STAT 2024: Survey Tips and Tactics – Compliance and Ethics Program

Discover how nursing homes are being cited with their annual surveys. The Long-Term Care Survey Process and regulatory language will be reviewed. Each month will delve into a specific survey topic. Common citation examples will be given with interactive discussion from members sharing their survey experiences, best practices, and lessons learned. Obtain useful tips and tactics for the monthly highlighted topic. Resources and other reference material will be shared. The Office of Inspector General (OIG) has announced nursing homes will be one of the first industry segment-specific compliance program guidance documents (ICPGs) released in 2024. The OIG did release the General Compliance Program Guidance (GCPG) for healthcare settings at the end of 2023. Nursing homes are required to develop a compliance and ethics program as part of the requirements of participation. A nursing home's compliance and ethics program should be developed so that it is likely to be effective in preventing and detecting criminal, civil, and administrative violations under the Act and in promoting quality of care. This webinar will discuss the OIG's guidance documents, the seven recommended elements of the program, and elements of anonymous reporting systems. ODH updates and current citation trends in Ohio will be discussed.
