Discover how nursing homes are being cited with their annual surveys. The Long-Term Care Survey Process and regulatory language will be reviewed. Each month will delve into a specific survey topic. Common citation examples will be given with interactive discussion from members sharing their survey experiences, best practices, and lessons learned. The Long-Term Care Survey Process is undergoing significant updates to enhance oversight of staffing compliance across all departments, including nursing, activities, and dietary services. Surveyors are now required to assess staffing sufficiency whenever concerns arise related to quality of care, quality of life, actual harm, or immediate jeopardy. Additionally, new guidance incorporates the PBJ Staffing Data Report as a key investigative tool to identify potential noncompliance. This session will provide an in-depth review of the updated surveyor guidance, investigative procedures, and key triggers for staffing-related citations. Participants will gain insight into how surveyors use PBJ data to assess compliance and learn strategies to proactively address staffing challenges before they become survey deficiencies.
