STAT: Survey Tips and Tactics 2025 – Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI)

Discover how nursing homes are being cited with their annual surveys. The Long-Term Care Survey Process and regulatory language will be reviewed. Each month will delve into a specific survey topic. Common citation examples will be given with interactive discussion from members sharing their survey experiences, best practices, and lessons learned. Obtain useful tips and tactics for the monthly highlighted topic. Resources and other reference material will be shared.

The updated CMS guidance reinforces the role of QAPI in identifying and addressing health equity concerns within long-term care facilities. Facilities are now expected to incorporate feedback mechanisms to assess whether they effectively meet the needs of diverse populations, including individuals with disabilities, limited English proficiency, and varying cultural or ethnic preferences. Additionally, data collection and monitoring must extend beyond general facility outcomes to evaluate sub-population trends, ensuring that disparities related to race, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, or preferred language are recognized and addressed. This session will examine the updated surveyor guidance for QAPI programs and their expanded focus on health equity.
